FaceTracker for Blender: stable release

Today is the day! After three months in open beta, our professional facial mocap add-on is now ready for production. Discover a new chapter of character animation and 3D composting in Blender: markerless motion capture, texture mapping workflow, and animation transfer are now one click away.

FaceTracker for Blender is:

• Markerless facial mocap: capture facial performance and head motion with a matching geometry
• Custom face mesh generation: create digital doubles using snapshots of video frames (available with FaceBundle)
• 3D texture mapping: beauty work, (de)ageing, relighting
• Animation retargeting: convert facial animation to ARKit blendshapes or Rigify rig

This release introduces quick access to animation retargeting, allowing for one-click face track conversion into ARKit blendshapes or Rigify rig. The new feature is a shortcut for animating your 3D characters using only source video – a game-changer for Blender animation workflows.

To help you navigate in the add-on functionality, we’ve prepared two short video tutorials focusing on two possible use cases: facial animation transfer and reshaping faces in live-action shots.
